Gulf Winds Triathletes lost one of its own on Sunday, April 6, 2014. Tim Warfel, 60, passed away at the conclusion of a brief morning solo run. The cause of Tim’s passing has not been announced.

Tim had been a member of Gulf Winds Track Club and Gulf Winds Triathletes for some time. An Ironman (Florida 2009), Tim spent much of this past Saturday morning cheering on his son,Chris Warfel (M25-29), also a Tri Club member, and others at the Red Hills Triathlon. Tim had recently begun rehabilitating a foot after healing from foot surgery. He competed in the Senior Games on March 15, 2014, and is shown below with fellow Tri Club members Kathy McDaris, Lee Scarboro, Tim, Rick Ashton, and Bob Keller.

There will be a viewing from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 10, 2014, at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home (1737 Riggins Road, Tallahassee, FL 32308).

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 11, 2014, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church (4665 Thomasville Road, Tallahassee, FL 32309).
