Dr. Brad Schmidt, PhD. Clinical Psychology, Distinguished Research Professor, Director of Anxiety and Behavioral Health Clinic

Presentation: Dealing with Anxiety in Sport

Please join us at the February Meeting of the Gulf Winds Triathletes for a presentation not to be missed.  Norman B. (Brad) Schmidt, Ph.D. is Distinguished Research Professor in
the department of Psychology at the Florida State University. He also directs the Anxiety and Behavioral Health Clinic, a clinical research center focused on the development and provision of state-of-the-art treatments for individuals suffering from anxiety-related problems. The major focus of his research has been on the nature, causes, treatment and prevention of anxiety psychopathology as well as related conditions such as substance use, mood disorders and suicide. He has published approximately 390 peer-reviewed publications, books and book chapters and his work has been funded by the National Institutes of Health, the Department of Defense, the Obsessive Compulsive Foundation, and the American Society for Suicide Prevention. He is a Fellow of the American
Psychological Association (APA), the Association for Psychological Science (APS) and the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT). Among his honors and awards, he received the APA Distinguished Scientific Award for Early Career Contribution to Psychology.

Dr. Schmidt started doing a sprint tris a few years ago and has completed most of the local races (Red
Hills, Tri the Rez, Beach Blast) as well as a half Ironman in New Orleans. Now he is a regular trail runner (to be nice to his hips) and he dreams of one day getting back to training for triathlons.

As usual, the monthly meeting will take place at Momoโ€™s Pizza in Killearn (1410 Market Street) on the third Monday of the month (Monday, February 20, 2017). Please join us at 6:30 pm for the Social portion of the evening with our speaker beginning at 7:00 pm.
